风滚草(Salsola tragus)被当地人称为’行走的植物’–这种干燥的球形植株成熟后，会脱离根系随风滚动，在移动中传播种子。当遇到有水的环境，它会重新扎根，每一株风滚草可以结出约3-5万粒种子。它进化出了独特的休眠生存策略-在极端干旱中保持休眠，待环境适宜时萌发。在中国，风滚草属于本土植物，而在美国，加拿大或澳大利亚，它被列入入侵物种名单。近年监测显示，受气候变化影响，其分布范围正持续向高纬度扩散。

Tumbleweed (Salsola tragus) is known locally as the “walking plant.” This dry, spherical shrub detaches from its roots when mature and rolls with the wind, spreading its seeds as it moves. When it encounters a water source, it takes root again. Each tumbleweed can produce about 30,000 to 50,000 seeds. It has evolved a unique dormancy survival strategy—remaining dormant during extreme drought and germinating when conditions become favorable. In China, tumbleweed is native, but in the Americas, Canada, and Australia, it is listed as an invasive species. Recent monitoring shows that due to climate change, its range is expanding steadily toward higher latitudes.
